Woman shot, killed after threatening census worker

Glenn Beck questions Congressman Michelle Bachmann about the ramifications of refusing to fill out the 2010 census.

A man recounts how he was shouted at for taking video of a census worker as he put in GPS coordinates of homes in his area.

According to a representative to the U.S. Census, a census worker went to the door of Craig Patterson, a resident of Yuba City, California. The time was 7:45 pm, 25 minutes before census workers are told to discontinue home visits. According to the worker, at this time a woman brandished a firearm to her while asking the man questions, and she immediately left.

The census worker immediately called her supervisor, who contacted the Police.

At 9:04 pm the Police arrived at the home, and were greeted by a male suspect with a handgun. They took him into custody, but then encountered 67 yo Victoria Helen Roger-Vasselin, pointing a shotgun at the officers. After refusing to put the shotgun down, the officers fired, killing the woman on the spot via multiple gunshot wounds.

The first thing you might say about this incident is, “So it’s come to this”. Many do not trust the 2010 census, due to some of the invasive questions on the forms. While this is true, and for some reason census workers have been mapping homes via GPS, it should also be noted that we cannot break the law in opposition to the Government’s intrusive policies.

Brandishing a gun without a reason is a crime. The days of a shotgun wielding guy sitting on his porch saying, “Get off my property!!” and then shooting off a few warning shots are over.

Under the U.S. Constitution, we are only compelled to be counted. There is no rule that allows invasive questions, and I think at some point the current census will be challenged at some level. The Obama Administration, as it seems always to do, appears to feel the need to expand Govt power at all levels. The charges against the Bush Administration, mostly overblown, are real under Obama.

Hopefully we can avoid a looming Police state by a budding Socialist Govt, but we can do this by ejecting all Politicians who support the President’s policies. But, we must maintain the law.

“…and I think at some point the current census will be challenged at some level…”
The census is being challenged daily by those who refuse to answer more than Number of Occupants, or who write “American” or “Patriot” under “other” for the nationality/race question, and leave the rest unanswered.
When will this census be taken to the courts? My estimation: never. The Dark Lord has no challengers in government circles, especialy by the GOP. (Referencing the speech by Calderon and not one Repugnican rose and left the chamber, but rather sat quietly by until they could join in the ending ovation.)

Jim, I was talking to a friend the other day about the type of Politician we need to get back in Congress–basically, one should think of country and responsibility over personal gain. I don’t think we have seen that sort of politician/President since Ronald Reagan. Why don’t people watch “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” to define themselves? The nation and the people are far too important to let one become weak in accordance to party rule.
We need more “Americans” in office than “Politicans” I think.

The census worker that came to my door was adamant about answering the intrusive questions. I’m now most likely labeled “difficult” or “insurgent.” I only answered the obvious and told her the rest were none of the government’s business. All they need to know is how many people reside at that address and nothing else.

The remaining questions were more of an invasion of privacy rather than anything to do with the census. Sadly the Yuba City, CA situation had an unfortunate outcome. Has this nation become so wary of our government and it’s ever ensuing new and more prohibitive policies that people are now being rendered expendable?

Mystery, we can only wait and see what happens when Obama loses power. Will it be “business as usual” with Republicans taking over for Democrats in usurping the power of the people? Time will tell. We can only watch and wait, and be prepared to fight for our nation and the Liberties it was founded upon.

Does anyone have any verifiable information concerning reactive responses to previous census forms? I don’t even recall this year’s form i filled out and mailed. What is the “intrusive” question or questions that i’m hearing about and what keeps any sane person from responding how you care to? The way to avoid having a census taker come to your home is to fill it out however you wish and mail it back. I suspect the internet and cable news programs have incited some folks and it’s most unfortunate that their gene pools are continuing. The world will always be cursed with the attention-grabbers and here we have our example.

Watching, I don’t think this has been as big an issue in the past, simply due to the fact that the Administration seems intent on finding a way to count illegals for their political benefit. After all, just about everything on the census is already available in our society, sadly. We have very little privacy, and to the govt we have almost none. Is that a bad trend, definitely, but does the census hold any threat beyond political use? I don’t think so. However, considering the devious actions of this administration, almost anything is possible. They surprise me just about every day.
